Champion Motorsport, Inc. has the capability to develop customized forged, one piece alloy wheels in aluminum and magnesium. The process provides the ability to develop a unique design including specific style, offset, bolt circle and hub centric center bore from proprietary tooling in minimum volume requirements of twenty (20) sets in aluminum and three (3) sets in magnesium. Each program requires minimal investment for engineering, testing, and machining programming. No additional investment is required as we utilize existing proprietary tooling and machine the wheel design from our forged blanks.
All wheels are tested to meet US government regulations for radial, rotary and impact fatigue. Investment for a low volume specific vehicle forged wheel application start at $40,000 and up. Our clients are able to experience world class technology, extremely low weight (some as much as 35% less than OEM) and their own specific wheel designs which work to bolster their brand image.

The Forging Process
What is Forging
Forging is a manufacturing process where metal is pressed under great pressure into high strength parts known as forgings. The process is normally performed by preheating the metal (but not always) to a desired temperature before it is worked. It is important to note that the forging process is entirely different from the casting process, as metal used to make forged parts is never melted and poured (as in casting). Unlike casting or machining from billet, forging uses intense heat and pressure to transform a slug of alloy material into the final shape of a wheel.
Benefits of forging vs. casting
- Grain structure is stronger
- Forged wheel is 300% stronger than cast wheel
- Less aluminum material is needed so wheel is lighter
Performance Benefits
Reduced Unsprung Weight. Unsprung weight is one of the most critical factors affecting a vehicle's road holding ability. Unsprung weight is that portion of the vehicle that is not supported by the suspension (i.e. wheels, tires and brakes) and therefore is most susceptible to road shock and cornering forces. By reducing unsprung weight, alloy wheels provide more precise steering input and improved “turning” in characteristics.
Improved Acceleration and Braking. By reducing the weight of the vehicle's rotational mass, forged alloy wheels provide more responsive acceleration and braking.
Improved Handling. The added strength of a quality forged alloy wheel can significantly reduce wheel/tire deflection in cornering. This is particularly critical with a vehicle equipped with high performance tires where lateral forces may approach 1.0g
Increased Brake Cooling. The metals in forged alloy wheels are excellent conductors of heat improving heat dissipation from the brakes reducing risk of fade under demanding driving conditions.
