Anyone who wanted a little extra spice with their 997 Carrera may have opted for the more powerful S variant. Although very similar in physical appearance to the base Carrera model, the Carrera S boasts a more powerful 3.8-liter engine producing an additional 30hp and 22 lb/ft of torque, yielding a 0-60mph sprint that is .2 seconds faster then the Carrera. But as always, room for improvement can be quickly identified and easily addressed. The IPD plenum widens the gap between Carrera models by providing and additional 24hp and 22 lb/ft of torque to the 3.8-liter engine. The IPD plenum’s unique “Y” style design and airflow diversion splitter achieve these gains by efficiently smoothing, accelerating, and directing the flow of air into the engine.
