With its powerful 3.6L motor and track inspired suspension, the GT3 was built to take on the curves. Porsche did a pretty good job on the GT3’s brake system, but as with most road-going sports cars, there’s always room from improvement. Factory rotors are typically cross-drilled which helps with cooling and also facilitates the removal of water from the rotor surface during wet driving conditions. The downside to drilled rotors is that they tend to develop small cracks over time when exposed to the heat generated during aggressive track driving, seriously shortening the lifespan of the rotor. GiroDisc’s slotted 2-piece floating rotors are designed as a direct replacement for the factory rotors, yet provide greatly enhance stopping power and 3-4 times the longevity even during the most extreme conditions. They also save about 3.5 pounds per rotor in the front and 4.1 pounds per rotor in the rear. The performance of the GiroDisc starts with the hard anodized 6061-T6 aerospace aluminum brake hats, which not only reduce weight but also assist in reducing heat transfer between the rotor and sensitive moving parts such as bearings and wheel hub carriers. The rotors are constructed using a proprietary cast-iron and feature a 32-vane design for exceptional cooling. Only the highest quality materials are used throughout the rotor including special high temperature alloy spring washers that eliminate the rattling sometimes associated with floating rotors. As with all GiroDisc replacement rotors, the 2-piece GT3 rotors are a direct replacement for the factory rotors and even retain the use of the e-brake.
