The IPD competition series of intake plenums work particularly well in turbocharged applications where airflow into the engine is pressurized. Under that pressure, you can’t afford to have anything interrupting the flow of air into the engine, and that includes the restrictive factory “T” shaped plenum. As with the standard 74mm plenum, the competition series 82mm plenum features IPD’s unique “Y” shaped design and diversion splitter that smooth and accelerate the flow of air into the engine. Air flows into the engine more efficiently, resulting in dramatically increased boost response and power output. Although it is also designed to be a direct replacement for the factory “T” shaped plenum, the IPD Competition series 82mm plenum requires the use of a 997 GT3 throttle body to accommodate it’s larger diameter. The competition series plenum is exceptionally useful in high horsepower applications running increased boost levels.
